CLIMABOROUGH (Horizon Europe)

What is CLIMABOROUGH?

CLIMABOROUGH is a four-year European Union project to test innovative urban solutions to climate change and environmental improvement.

In the project, we are focusing on calming the traffic at the 25th Primary School and Tyršova Primary School and Kindergarten, which is should improve air cleanliness, noise and emissions reduction.

The City of Pilsen is represented in the consortium of 27 European partners by SITMP, the IT company of the City of Pilsen. The project coordinator is the Italian ANCI Toscana. Participants share their experiences in order to achieve climate neutrality by 2050.

The project is funded under the prestigious Horizon Europe innovation programme.

Aims of the project:

  • To support European cities in co-creating innovations to reduce emissions.
  • To develop cooperation and networking between city governments, the public, industry partners and investors.
  • To contribute to the participation of stakeholders and ensure the creation of living labs as a space for interaction between various stakeholders (political representatives, civil servants, technical experts, professionals, citizens).
  • To create a tool for monitoring climate neutrality by integrating existing solutions (measuring living standards using technologies such as artificial intelligence and digital twin) and using it to get citizens to change their behaviour positively.

Results of the project:

  • The transition of European cities to a new way of life – to a new ecological and digital order.
  • Engaging startups and early stage entrepreneurs, giving them the opportunity to test their innovative ideas and share ideas and experiences.
  • Use of the MARCO (sMart pAths for gReener sChoOls) app to create a greener and safer journey to school (25th Primary School) and the launch of the website cestadoskoly.plzen.eu.
  • Launch of the website skolniulice.plzen.eu for a community event (Tyršova Primary School and Kindergarten).

Within the project, we apply our activities such as Digital Twin – 3D city model, opendata, applications based on open data and sensors (e.g. map and traffic intensity, parking system, etc.) or SITLab for camera system and other follow-up sensors with a focus on security.

The project is planned for four years. Within the first two years, we prepared and plan individual sub-projects, which are gradually implemented and tested in the following two years in the individual cities involved.
